a complete guideline about the connection of Ledger Nano to (BSC) |
How do I connect the Ledger Nano to the Binance Smart Chain (BSC)?
Ledger Nano S and Ledger Nano X are cold storage devices used to protect private keys and encrypted keys. These hardware wallets never connect to the internet and protect private keys from hackers.
Ledger nano devices are compatible with several blockchains such as Ethereum, Tron, Binance Chain, Solana, and Binance Smart China (BSC). In this article, we will show you how to connect a Ledger Nano to a BSC. Make sure to download Ledger Live and install the meta mask for your browser.

If you have already taken steps to secure your cryptocurrency and digital assets with NanoLeder, you will need to configure it to work with BinarySmart Chain. You can store any BEP-20 tokens on your device, but if your tokens are not visible, you will need to manually back them up to display them in your transactions and user interface.
What is a nano ledger?
Ledger Nano S and Ledger Nano X Ledger are cold storage hardware wallets. They can connect to the computer via USB for transactions and manage the encryption stored in the wallet. This is done in the Ledger Live app or via a meta mask. Each device has a small screen and on-screen navigation buttons.

A hardware wallet is a highly secure device for storing private keys. Of all the wallet options available to you, this is by far the most secure. Your private key is never exposed to the internet, which greatly reduces the chances of someone being hacked or stolen. However, you should keep the device in a safe place with a backup of your private key in case you lose it.
Create a Binance Smart Chain account with Ledger Live.
1. If you haven't set up the Ledger Nano yet, download the Ledger Live app for your desktop or mobile device and follow the setup instructions from Ledger.com. Open Ledger Live and connect your device via USB. Ledger Live allows you to manage cryptocurrencies on different blockchains on your cold storage device.
2. Go to the Accounts tab and click [Add Account], then you will see the BSC option. Select [Binance Smart Chain] and click [Continue].
3. Ledger Live is now your BSC account. Then go to the [Received] tab.
4. Select your BSC account before clicking [Continue].
5. You should now see your Binance Smart Chain address displayed on your Ledger device and the Ledger Live app. This address is valid for BEP-20 codes only. It is not compatible with BEP-2 or Binance Chain tokens.
6. Confirm the address on your device as well and press the [Confirm] key.
Does Ledger Live support BEP-20 tokens?
Your Nano Ledger accepts all BEP-20 tokens, but they may not appear in your balance initially. Your code will be safe there and you just need to add some technical details so that it can be viewed directly on your Ledger and on your Ledger device.
Ledger Live lists BEP-20 codes in three different ways:
The balance amount and its value in fiat. This is for fully supported tokens.
There is only balance but there is no fiat value. This is for semi-supported icons.
No credit or fiat value. This is for unsupported tokens for which you need to enter the details yourself.
If you sent a BEP-20 code to your NanoLeder BSC wallet but you can't see your balance on Ledger Live, you can check it again with BscScan. Your ledger address is available. Click the [Code] icon on the left to view your balance.
Access to my unsupported BEP-20 Premium balance
Ledger Nano can store any BEP-20 token, but not every BEP-20 token in the BSC ecosystem will be displayed on your Ledger Nano by default. Therefore, you need to use a wallet like MetaMask with your Ledger Nano to manage unsupported BEP-20 tokens.
1. If MetaMask is not installed in Chrome, Firefox, or any other supported browser, go to their website and install the compatible extension.
2. Create a MetaMask wallet or log in to your existing MetaMask wallet. Creating a wallet is easy - make sure you have a secure backup of your first gateway, ideally on an offline device.
3. Next, you need to follow the guide on How to Connect MetaMask to Binance Smart Chain. This includes adding the RPC client with the following details:
minute
Network Name: Smart Chain
New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
Serial number: 56
Code: BNB
Block Explorer URL: https://bscschain.com
After successfully following the tutorial, go back to step 4 here.
4. Connect the Nano Ledger to your computer and then open the Binance Smart Chain app on your device. You can do this by searching for the Binance Smart Chain token and pressing the Nano Ledger buttons at the same time.
5. Open the Ledger Live application connected to the Nano Ledger.
6. In MetaMask, go to [Settings] - [Advanced] and then switch to [Use Ledger Directly]. Your Nano Ledger appears as an account in MetaMask.
7. Next, you need to add the unsupported BEP-20 token contract address as a custom token to your MetaMask.
8. You can find your BEP-20 coin contract by searching for the coin on CoinMarketCap or GoinGecko. You will see the box below with the information you need to copy. Also, note the [decimal] field.
9. Make sure you are in your Ledger Nano account in MetaMask and have selected Binance Smart Chain, click on the [Assets] tab. Scroll down and tap [Add Coins].
10. Copy the token contract address and comma. Usually, MetaMask fills in the rest of the details for you. The [Token] field is the stock token you want your wallet and Nano Ledger to display for cryptocurrencies. In our example, this would be a cake. Finally, click [Next].
You can now successfully add support for your BEP-20 token in Nano Ledger. If you decide to transfer the tokens to your wallet, make sure to get some BEP-20 BNB for your transaction fees.
outcome considerations
Opting to use a hardware wallet is a huge upgrade in the security of your crypto assets. If you're a HODLer, you don't even need to connect your device to your PC very often. You can buy cryptocurrency without connecting and sending it to your device address. Even if you regularly use it for commerce, storage, or Decentralized Finance (Defi) DApps, using your wallet with Ledger Live or MetaMask only requires one extra step: plugging in your device. Whatever your crypto-hold strategy, there's virtually no downside to using a hardware wallet with BSC, as long as you keep your device and seed phrase safe.
